You know furniture shopping is serious when it’s trending on Buzzfeed. Here’s our top reasons to upgrade your furniture.
1. You want to feel “settled”.
Whether you’ve just moved to a new city, had a major breakup or started your first job after graduating school, sometimes the major milestones of life feel as jolting as a Ronda Roussey punch to the gut. At those times, coming home and feeling at home may just be the top thing that gets you to the next day (insert Rounda Roussey uppercut). Getting furniture, linens and decorations can make a regular ole pad feel more like a refuge from the rest of world, and really help you make you feel more comfortable and relaxed.
2. Your current stuff is as useful as the dog poo on the sidewalk
If you’ve got drawers that don’t open or pullout beds that double as a torture device, it’s time to have a heart to heart. Whether you like it or not, broken stuff in your environment can drag you down mentally. If you were dating someone who stood you up on dates, embarrassed you in front of your parents, woke you up at night annoying you, you’d drop that fool, right? Sooo, ya need to have a difficult conversation with the dresser with the limp if it’s not doing it’s job.
3. Your current items can’t survive the move.
No matter how much you love it, some things just aren’t meant to last forever. Such is the case with many Ikea and Target pieces that aren’t meant to be disassembled and reassembled multiple times. And also Dad’s old recliner that can’t fit through the doorway of your new apartment.
4. It makes you feel sad, frustrated or pissed off
Maybe it reminds you of that crazy ex or maybe it’s so ugly it hurts your eyes. Whatever, if your furniture brings bad memories in your house, then hit the gong and drop it like a bad habit.
